Skills, Strategy, and Support for a Stronger Sector
As market conditions shift, whether due to new regulations, supply chain pressures, technology changes, or international policy, local manufacturers need access to practical training that supports real, measurable growth. That’s why OKMN is actively pursuing government funding to support a series of new training and workforce development programs. These programs are designed to meet the emerging needs of our region and help businesses strengthen their positioning for the long term.
Early initiatives include:
- Developing a Pivot Strategy – helping manufacturers explore new markets, new products, and potential shifts in business models so they can respond effectively to industry disruptions and capitalize on new opportunities.
- Developing an Export Strategy – helping businesses expand beyond Canada, navigate global trade requirements, and adapt to evolving conditions in international markets.
These initiatives are being developed in response to newly implemented US tariffs and the potential long-term challenges to free trade. Our goal is to ensure Okanagan manufacturers are prepared to adapt, diversify, and thrive — even when external conditions are unpredictable.

As OKMN grows, we will continue to collaborate with industry experts, post-secondary partners, and subject-matter specialists to build a wider portfolio of training opportunities tailored to the needs of our members. These offerings will evolve based on feedback from manufacturers throughout the region, ensuring the topics remain relevant and grounded in real operational challenges.
